Securities market turnover value up 23% to $24.3b in September: SGX

Improving market conditions spurred capital market fundraising.

Singapore Exchange (SGX) reported a 23% YoY growth in total securities market turnover value to $24.3b in September.

Securities daily average value rose 18% YoY to $1.11b, with the securities average clearing fee for the quarter at 2.74 basis points, a hike from 2.60 basis points recorded last year.

SGX stated that the optimism of improving market conditions prompted capital market fundraising, whilst uncertainties ahead of the upcoming US elections boosted portfolio risk-management activity across asset classes.

SGX-listed companies tapped equity capital markets with secondary fundraising of $2.11b.

Total funds raised from equity and bond listings on SGX increased 63% YoY to $40.8b in September, the highest amount since February.

Meanwhile, the market turnover value of exchange-traded funds on SGX leapt 114% YoY to $325m in September, bringing the Q3 total to $1.2b, up 110% from the same period last year.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
