Jack Wills opens its first store in Singapore

A 'fun' brand that values the Brit vibe.

Put your game face on! Whether looking for a shopping spot for his or her outfits, check out this UK fashion brand, Jack Wills, which has just finally arrived in Singapore .

Located at Raffles City Shopping Centre, this first Jack Wills store in Singapore and fourth in Asia, made its debut on November 4 with a grand opening party. The new store in Singapore boasts a very high ceiling which gives a much more ‘grand open-space atmosphere’ with vintage lighting.

Jack Wills is a UK fashion brand co-founded by Peter Williams and Robert Shaw in 1999, in Salcombe, Devon in the south of England. During that time, they design British heritage-inspired goods for the university crowd. When Jack Wills was a stand-alone store in Salcombe, the founders slept above the shop. The brand has since quickly expanded, moving away from being a university outfitter to focus on producing apparel, accessories and homeware inspired by quintessentially British style and heritage, and has grown to have over 80 stores across the globe.

According to Serene Lu, regional manager of Jack Wills in Asia, the new store was based on their new concept of stores - which has begun in the UK too - where each section is divided into departments, e.g. key looks at the front, women’s on the left, men’s on the right, going inside to the casual wear, then loungewear and then at the back for homeware and lastly the changing rooms.

“Jack Will in Singapore have a focal point of a grand union jack curtain in the middle of the store and continue with our chandeliers and vintage furnishing to hang and place our products. We will be organising creative events that will intrigue the public to let them understand that we are a fun brand that values its Britishness, authenticity and youthful optimism,” Serene said.

Serene adds that since Singapore climate is very different from UK and Hong Kong, one of the challenges they have to solve was to make sure that their brand’s heavy-wear items are minimized in the market, while having more summer-appropriate clothing to match the hot climate in Singapore.

Jack Will plans to open more stores in Singapore and expand in other parts of Asia.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
